Creatures

(The Creatures Section is Continuously Being Updated)

General Info: The most recognizable creatures in The Midlands are Orcs and Goblins, although their population has decreased with the decades. Most of them are now found in the Western Wastelands. It is known there are Snow Orcs in Ghoul Mountains. Other creatures in The Midlands are less heard of or known about, humanoids such as trolls and ogres are known to exist, but not many encounter them. There are stranger creatures that exist in The Midlands than those, but most of them are largely regarded as fairytales.

Orcs

Appearance: Orcs are taller, broader of shoulder, thicker boned, more solidly muscled, and much heavier than humans. They have a pair of tusk-like lower teeth that extend over the tops of their upper lips, squashed pig-like snouts, wide mouths, tiny little piggish eyes, and often ape-like head shapes. Regular orcs skin is greenish.

History:

In the past, orcs were very frequent in The Midlands, many of them were established in large tribes. In the First Age, many of them ruled The Midlands among other forces of evil. It was the golden age of orcish savagery. As the epochs gone by humans have become more dominated in The Midlands, and through many crusades eradicated nearly all orcish camps. Some believe it's the disciplined lifestyle of humans, or that the forces of the good deities is simply stronger than that of I'mori and have empowered humans in their crusade to destroy all of the vile orcs-kind. As of the the second age (x000, where the x signifies 10), most of the orcs are gone, but those that survived have become wandering tribes. The majority of which are in the Western Wastelands.

While half-orcs are bred by humans as slaves, fullbred orcs are nearly always killed, and not brought to slavery.

There is one variation to Orcs, the Snow-Orcs, often referred as "snork" by humans.

Snow-Orcs live in Ghoul Mountains, and are in constant battles with The Kingdom of Gilithas, especially Elynn Dunhaven. There are no "half-snow-orcs". Snow-Orcs can't breed with either regular orcs or humans.

Culture and Tradition:

Orcish culture is a barbaric one of strength and viciousness. Each tribe is led by independent warchief known as "Ordun." Each warchief is assisted by his strongest son, his "Ornar," while the wisest shaman is known as his "Surtar." Leadership would be strongly contested, were it not for the near-religious method in which warchiefs are chosen. At first, each challenger must battle the other in contests of strength, usually a throwing a suitably large and heavy rock, dexterity, which consists of avoiding said rock being thrown, and blind luck, blindfolded throw of the same rock, again, at an equally blindfolded opponent, except at closer range to improve chances of hitting. The bravest orcs would sing while blindfolded, proving his bravery while his opponent tries to hurl the stone in the direction of the singing orc.

Failure to acquire the position by these trials is considered a great dishonor, and the warchief is almost sure to lose the next battle, including the mandatory trial which occurs as soon as possible. Replacing the warchief in war therefore, is a large problem for the orcs, resulting in many retreats soon after an initial invasion, as the armies of the midland quickly react by killing off the biggest orc they can find, on the assumption that he is the warchief.

Religion:

Most orcs pay little attention to religion except the shamans who worship the shamanistic world that has many idols. The mostly highly-praised idol in orcish culture is "Graal", appearing as a giant black dire wolf. Many shamans wear his symbol, a fang at one end and the wolf face at the other.
